The Howrah Bridge is a suspension bridge that spans over the Hooghly River and connects the city of Kolkata with the nearby Howrah district. The  Howrah Bridge was completed in 1943 and was originally called the new Howrah Bridge. It was renamed Rabindra Setu in 1965, in honor of the famous Bengali poet and Nobel laureate, Rabindranath Tagore.

Apart from its engineering significance, Howrah Bridge is also a popular tourist attraction and a symbol of Kolkata's rich cultural heritage. It has been featured in many movies, songs, and books, and is considered one of the most photographed landmarks in India.

The bridge was designed by the renowned British engineer Sir R. G. D. Macdonald, and it took eight years to complete. it is made of steel and has a length of 705 meters, with two main towers that support the weight of the bridge and the traffic that crosses it.

The Howrah Bridge has become a symbol of Kolkata and a popular tourist attraction, with its unique design and stunning views of the Hooghly River and the city skyline. It has also been featured in many Hollywood movies, adding to its cultural significance in India.
